Easter nails

Happy Easter!

I hope you all enjoy the time off as we definitely are!

It’s nothing better than a few days off work when you can sleep in, eat a lot and not worry about tomorrow... well maybe I went too far but you get the picture!

As Easter is associated with 'being reborn' and I’m in the mood for colour, I thought I’ll recreate the Easter egg effect on my nails. What do you think about my Easter nails?? Aren't they fun?!

To get this effect I’ve used four different colours from BarryM’s range. Two of them being just regular pastel nail varnishes:

From the left: BarryM 307 Lemon I/C and BarryM 304 Mint Green.

And for the top colours, I’ve used the Instant Nail Effects varnishes:

From the left: BarryM 314 and BarryM 315.

To finish it all of, I used the Cristal Finish top coat by Leighton Denny, as I didn't have the BarryM’s one!

What do you think about my Easter nails? Let us know below or on Twitter @beautyu.

Stay beautiful and enjoy the time off!

Spring has sprung into my wardrobe and make-up

I hope you all had a nice and relaxing weekend! Looking outside it definitely feels like spring is in the air and I hope the winter will not make an unexpected come back any time soon!

This past Friday night, Stace, her family, my other half and myself, went out to celebrate Stace’s birthday and had lots of fun! As I felt in a mood for spring I decided to put that into action and dress in more springy garment and use more vibrant colours with my make-up.

Here’s what I wore:

Boden dress, H&M jacket, olive tights and Jones Bootmaker grey shoes

Here’s the more spring-like make up (check out the eyes):
My spring/pastel make-up

My pastel eyes

The main eye colour I used in my spring make-up was purple, as the pastels are in this season! I’ve worked with two different eye colours – Heart and Sugar Plum – both from bareMinerals:

Both of the eye shadows complement each other so it was really easy to work with them. I’m usually not very good with eye colours but this time I think it all worked out great at the end.

For the base I used the Prime Time Brightening eyelid primer from bareMinerals:

After that, I used the Heart colour all over the eye lids and blended it well with the golden tones of the primer. Then in the corners of the eye lids I used the Sugar Plum, deeper tone of purple, to bring my beautiful eyes out! To  finish it all off, I used the Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in black ink – check out my previous blog to read more about it!

To finish up my whole outfit I decided to go for a little lilac colour for my nails! Here it is – my fav Leighton Denny’s Little Thief:

The whole outfit put me right into a springy and party mood, and the weather was just a nice little addition to the celebration!

Hope your wardrobes are getting a bit more colourful with the weather improving outside!

Be colourful! Stay beautiful!

Nothing says ‘I love you’ more than a beautiful shade of pink

Valentine’s nails with Leighton Denny’s nail products

The Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and I feel inundated with all the overpriced offers on gifts, restaurants, spa treatments, you name it. However, the V-day is all about you and your loved one! You don’t need to spend a fortune to make that day special!  The most important thing to me is not only to look great but to feel great that day!

The simple and easy way to make a difference and to feel great is to accessorise your outfit with a nail colour! As you may already pick up from my previous blogs, I love nails varnishes and I do change the colour depending on my mood and outfit I’m planning to wear! A nice, long-lasting nail varnish is a must in each girl’s wardrobe so for that upcoming special occasion I decided to go for one of my favourite nail brand - Leighton Danny!

A 12ml bottle of each nail colour retails £11 so it’s not a bargain buy; however, the colour, the durability and the lasting shine are worth every penny!!!

Beautiful shade of pink – Bubblegum

The colour I selected for next week’s occasion is Bubblegum.

It’s a soft, shimmery shade of pink that looks fantastic on the nails. It’s also versatile with the colour density, depending on how many coats of the colour you use – I usually go for two!

Take a look at our first You Tube video below to see the way I apply the products:

The products I used in the video are:

Leighton Denny's colour accessories. From the left: Undercoat (base coat), Crystal Finish (top coat), Slick Tips (nail and cuticle oil). All comes in 12ml bottles and all RRP £11.

Leighton Denny - Miracle Mist, speed-drying spray, RRP £11

What are your plans for the V-day? Are you going to accessorise with nail colour, too? If so, what colour would you go for? Let us know what you think by leaving a comment or on twitter @beautyu.

Happy Valentine’s Day to you all from Stace and me!

Stay beautiful!

Let’s Minx it a Little this Christmas!

The January issue of Harper’s Bazaar is already out(!) and this issue comes with a free Leighton Denny’s nail polishes! Well actually, each issue comes with one colour however, there are six season’s coolest colours to choose from… or collect them all!

You should see my excitement when I saw that offer at my local Sainsbury’s! And as I’m a big fan of Leighton’s polishes, I bought three magazines with three different colours!
Leighton Denny nail polishes - from left: Crushed Grape, Sensual Glam and Little Minx
Crushed Grape – which I think I’ll keep for the spring/summer season

Sensual Glam – which goes really well with my tanned hands now (just got back from hols!) it’s natural white colour with gold shimmer (sorry, as not sure if it’s visible on the photos)

And…  the colour that I’m going to use during the Christmas season – Little Minx

This colour is perfect for Xmas parties and all the season’s celebrations! It’s a metallic grey with plum undertone and high shine finish! It’s perfect for my Xmas Party’s Winter Wonderland theme and will go with lots of gowns and colours! I’m so excited!

There are three other colours that come with the magazine; however, as I haven’t bought more mags I can only tell you the colours, which look like: orangey red, burgundy purple and teal green.

If you’re LD’s fan go and get the fab colours! If you’re not a fan as yet, treat yourself to a magazine with a free nail polish, as they don’t come cheap - £11 per bottle! The magazine is £4.20!

Stay beautiful!

Nails ‘Out of this World’ by Leighton Denny

I love nail varnishes. Not the ones that chip by the first hour of application, but those that deliver to promise and last at least a week! I used a lot of different brands but none of them lived up to Leighton Denny’s nail varnishes! Their durability is fantastic and the variety of colours excessive for any nail fanatic!

I use different nail varnish colours for different seasons or moods and have enough to fit any occasion! Recently I’ve purchased the new ‘Out of this World’ collection from the QVC shopping channel (sold out at the moment but will update you when in stock), with a number of items and fabulous colours! Check it out below:

'Out of this World Collection' by Leighton Denny. It contains: Crystal nail file - full size, One For All top and under coat in one, four nail varnishes: Your Planet or Mine?, Saturn Seduction, Zero Gravity and Supermauva, Miracle Mist everything comes in this fab silver beauty bag.
The silver beauty bag, beautifully lined inside.
This bag contains:

The advantage of using cristal file is the ability to file the nails back and forth without damaging your nails as when using standard emery board. RRP £15 from www.leightondenny.com
This One For All product has many functions - it can be a base coat, top coat, create this finished glossy effect or be worn on its own (as shown on the photo). RRP £11 from www.leightondenny.com
This dark, mysteriously deep, teal-green colour called Your Planet or Mine? reminds me of the colours when oil spills in the water. Depending how the light hits the nail colour it changes from dark green to deep teal, even to black. It shimmers beautifully! Ideal for Christmas Parties! RRP £11 from www.leightondenny.com
This seductive shade of red/burgundy, coincidently called Saturn Seduction is a perfect fit for autumn! Goes with browns, oranges and dusky yellows!
Grey autumn/winter days don't need to be associated with dark colours, hence this Zero Gravity lighter shade of grey will brighten up any gloomy day!
Last but no means least is my favourite colour in this collection - Supermauva. This violet colour shimmers with pink undertones and is very wearable both to work and for going out!
This collection completes the Miracle Mist a new product already known to Leighton fans as Miracle drops, this time though it's in the spray edition! It helps speed up the process of drying the nails polish. RRP £11 from www.leightondenny.com

I’ve applied each of the colours twice, for best coverage, and used the One For All as a base and top coat for the glossy finish. At the end I sprayed the nails with the Miracle Mist to extend the longevity of the nail colour.

This week my nails are cocooned in the Supermauva! What colour are you wearing on your nails now? Are you also a Leighton Denny fan? Let us know on twitter @beautyu!

Stay beautiful!
