Spring has sprung into my wardrobe and make-up

I hope you all had a nice and relaxing weekend! Looking outside it definitely feels like spring is in the air and I hope the winter will not make an unexpected come back any time soon!

This past Friday night, Stace, her family, my other half and myself, went out to celebrate Stace’s birthday and had lots of fun! As I felt in a mood for spring I decided to put that into action and dress in more springy garment and use more vibrant colours with my make-up.

Here’s what I wore:

Boden dress, H&M jacket, olive tights and Jones Bootmaker grey shoes

Here’s the more spring-like make up (check out the eyes):
My spring/pastel make-up

My pastel eyes

The main eye colour I used in my spring make-up was purple, as the pastels are in this season! I’ve worked with two different eye colours – Heart and Sugar Plum – both from bareMinerals:

Both of the eye shadows complement each other so it was really easy to work with them. I’m usually not very good with eye colours but this time I think it all worked out great at the end.

For the base I used the Prime Time Brightening eyelid primer from bareMinerals:

After that, I used the Heart colour all over the eye lids and blended it well with the golden tones of the primer. Then in the corners of the eye lids I used the Sugar Plum, deeper tone of purple, to bring my beautiful eyes out! To  finish it all off, I used the Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in black ink – check out my previous blog to read more about it!

To finish up my whole outfit I decided to go for a little lilac colour for my nails! Here it is – my fav Leighton Denny’s Little Thief:

The whole outfit put me right into a springy and party mood, and the weather was just a nice little addition to the celebration!

Hope your wardrobes are getting a bit more colourful with the weather improving outside!

Be colourful! Stay beautiful!

Mags’ Face of the Day

This is my first Face of the Day (FOTD) post so I thought I’ll share with you my daily make-up routine and show the products I use to create my daytime look.

Here are the tools and products I use:

  • Elemis Cellular Recovery Skin Bliss Capsules – facial oil used in the morning and evening to double charge the moisturiser
  • Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream – my day moisturiser
  • Smashbox Photo Finish – foundation primer
  • bareMinerals Multi-Tasking SPF20 Concealer in Bisque
  • bareMinerals Original SPF15 Foundation in Medium Tan – I usually use the Medium Beige one, however, I still have some colour left after my holidays
  • bareMinerals all-over face colour in Warmth – bronzing powder
  • bareMinerals blush in Intrigue
  • bareMinerals Original SPF25 Mineral Veil – finishing powder, also can be used as a primer
  • Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink
  • bareMinerals Flawless Definition Volumizing mascara in Black
  • Chanel AQUALUMIÈRE Gloss High Shine Sheer Concentrate in Freeze (066) – lip gloss
  • Most of the brushes are from my Bare Escentuals collection: max coverage concealer (concealer brush), full coverage buki (foundation brush), flawless face (bronzer brush), angled blush (blush brush), hydrate & brighten (finishing powder brush) and Bobbi Brown Ultra Fine Eye Liner brush.

I really love all the products I use! They saved my life! About three years ago I went through a rough time with my skin and nothing worked. Three years down the line and after discovering the bareMinerals make-up products no one can really tell that a few months ago I was covered in spots and looked really miserable!

Here is my flawless skin today:

Hope you enjoyed my first FOTD! I surely did! Let me know if you use any of the products listed and if so, what do you think of them?

Stay beautiful!

Eye-line it with Bobbi Brown

Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner (RRP £16.50)
I was looking for a more heavy-duty eyeliner that delivers great results and lasts at least 8hrs. I decided to try the Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner from Bobbi Brown (RRP £16.50) as I heard some great things about this product. And it hasn’t disappointed me! I absolutely LOVE the product.

Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner (RRP £16.50) and Ultra Fine Eyeliner Brush (RRP £21) both by Bobbi Brown.

This eyeliner delivers all I asked for. Its long lasting, water-resistant formula glides on the eye lid with ease making the eyeliner application process even easier. The product doesn’t dry until it’s applied, and once dried it doesn’t smear or crease as any previous products I used.

Application technique: For best results use the Gel eyeliner with Ultra Fine Eyeliner Brush (RRP £21) covering it on both sides. Remove the excess of the product by taping the brush lightly into a tissue. Apply it very closely to the eyelashes about 3/4 of the way on the top lid and 1/2 way under the eye starting from middle and working your way out (see the photos below). Once applied, the product dries on and stays for hours.

The ultimate test

I decided to put this product to a test to see how long it will actually last. Take a look at the results below:

... and after 10hrs of application:

The photos below are taken at 7pm after a long day at work – can you see a difference, as I really can’t!:
