Makeunder with BareEscentuals

I absolutely love my make-up products from BareEscentuals! They’re easy to use, easy to apply, easy to wear and easy to take off! What more to ask for?! It’s very strange as with other brands the longer I wore the make-up, the more washed out I looked and by the end of the day that make-up was falling off my face (literally at times!)! I haven’t experienced any of that with my bareMinerals make-up products for the past several months I've used it! It actually looks better the longer I wear it during the day – I know, bizarre but true!

Anyway, last weekend I’ve asked a friend if she wouldn’t mind if I do a ‘makeunder’ on her! It’s called a ‘makeunder’ (a phrase I heard on the BE counter at our local Debenhams) as it supposed to look natural as if not wearing make-up and the skin tone has a healthy glow.

Take a look at the before and after shots of Sylwia below. Amazing, isn’t it?

BEFORE the makeunder
AFTER the makeunder

Step by step to the healthy, dewy complexion:

Step 1. Applied the Prime Time foundation primer all over the face and eyes. Used a bit of the Original SPF25 Mineral Veil to minimise any open pores and ensure the longevity of the finished make-up. Used a bit of the Multi-Tasking SPF20 Concealer in Bisque to cover any minor imperfections. And applied the Original SPF15 Foundation in Medium Beige all over Sylwia's face to even out the skin tone.

Step 2. Used the All Over Face Colour in Warmth to create that sun-kissed and healthy look. Under the eyes I applied the Multi-tasking Eye in Well Rested to reduce any dark circles and awaken the complexion.

Step 3. Applied the Blush in Golden Gate to the apples of Sylwia's cheeks to bring a more natural, healthy look to the face.

Step 4. I applied the Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner by Bobbi Brown to frame and bring out the beautiful eyes.

Step 5. The Eyes - As a base I used the Eyecolor in Flaunt and all over the eyes I used the Quadra Eye Shadow by Chanel in 81 Beiges Velours.

Step 6. In the corners of the eyes I used the Multi-tasking Eye in Well Rested to 'open' the eye and brighten it up.

What do you think about the finished look?

Sylwia's finished look using the bareMinerals products - at this final stage I've used the All-Over Face Color in Bare Radiance to bring that luminosity and dewiness to Sylwia's skin! Also used the Lancome Le Crayon Kohl Eye Liner in Brun and the Rouge Color Fever Shine lipstick in Rose Explosion (308) to define her browns and emphasize those luscious lips.

I’ve loved every bit of the experience – the makeunder, the wine we consumed (!), the impromptu beauty hints and tips we shared with each other, the laughter and girly chats... but the most importantly the fact that I left my friend Sylwia with an ‘Aww’ as she loved the make-up and was amazed how each stage has transformed her complexion! She said: ‘bareMinerals transformed my skin into a radiant, healthy looking complexion, without looking too made-up at all!’

Come on girls, what are you waiting for? Give the bareMinerals a go ... you won’t be disappointed!

Stay beautiful!

Au Naturel from Nude Collection by Sleek Make-up

It wasn’t until yesterday that I’ve discovered the Sleek Make-up company! I know it took me some time! I’ve been flicking through the December’s issue of Glamour and saw the Au Naturel eye palette from the Nude Collection and decided to get it as am a neutral colours fanatic. The very affordable price (RRP £6.49) makes this palette even more appealing. It’s available in Superdrug across the UK.

Check out the product below:

Divine Eye Palette - Au Naturel from Nude Collection - RRP £6.49 at Superdrug

It comes in a very (excuse the pun!) sleek packaging. Looks very much like a high end product!

Those are the colours: from top left: Nougat, Nubuck, Cappuccino, Honeycomb, Toast, Taupe and from the bottom left: Conker, Moss, Bark, Mineral Earth, Regal, Noir

Those are the swatches of the nude top colours. I know it's hard to see them properly as they are very natural looking. From the left you can see: Nougat, Nubuck, Cappuccino, Honeycomb, Toast and Taupe.
Here you can see the swatches of the bottom, darker colours. From the left: Conker, Moss, Bark, Mineral Earth, Regal, Noir
Here's my eye made-up using a few colours from the palette! I've made the black liner with the use of the Noir colour!

This palette is very handy and brings all the colours I love together so it’s a winner for me! Have I mentioned they are mineral based! Even better as I love my mineral make-up! The only disappointment is the aplicator, hence I used my own brushes to apply the product!

The combination of the matte and the shimmer colours makes this palette so much more versatile and wearable for both day and night make-up! Are you a neutrals girl like me or do you like experimenting with different colours? Let us know on Twitter @beautyu!

Stay beautiful!

Purple eyes with BareMinerals

Last week Stace and I popped in to our local Debenhams as we heard that BareEscentuals was throwing a mini ‘re-launch’ event there! The counter was opened for a few months now so the staff decided to ‘welcome’ their customers! Little too late? Maybe… however, we were welcomed with a little cupcakes and glass of bubbly which was a nice touch!

I’ve managed to ask one of the make-up artists to do a day eye make-up on me. We are both strong believers in the brand and I love all their make-up products; however, when it comes to eyes I’m lost… no idea where to start and what to do, hence always end up using just the eye liner.

Take a look at my lovely purple eye make-up all finished:
The High Shine Eyecolour (RRP £15, the colour I wear is called Moonshine) enhances the blue in my eyes!

It's a very safe, day look. However, adding just a bit more of the Big & Bright Eyeliner in Plum (RRP £13) in the corners of the eyes and smudging that a bit makes it more of an evening, party look!
The base for the eye shadow is the Prime Time Primer Shadow in Chroma Violet (RRP £16) that looks really nice on its own, so if you don't have the time to work on your eye make-up in the morning, that would work a treat!

My finished purple eye make-up!

Purple eye – definitely out of my comfort zone; however, the colour works fine with my blue eyes and it doesn’t look bad at all! I’m converted! Need to practice a bit more and will be ready to face the world with some purple eye make-up on soon!

Stay beautiful!
